Terms of Service

Last updated 21 August 2026.

Life OS is a personal productivity app built and operated by Zander van der Berg in South Africa. Using it means accepting what is written here. If you would rather not, please do not sign in.

Where Life OS is in its life. Life OS is early software, run by one person, and offered to a small number of people. It is not a company, there is no support team, and there is no uptime guarantee. Please read the sections on availability and backups before you decide to keep anything important in it — and keep a copy elsewhere of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Your account

You sign in with a Google account, and you are responsible for keeping that Google account secure. You must be at least 13 years old. One person, one account — accounts are not to be shared.

What it costs

Life OS is currently free. There is no billing, no payment method on file and no subscription. If that ever changes you will be told clearly and in advance, and nothing will start charging you without your explicit agreement.

Your content is yours

Everything you put into Life OS — your tasks, projects, diary, library, habits and calendar — remains yours. No ownership of it is claimed. The only permission taken is the technical one needed to store it, display it back to you, and sync it between your devices.

Your content is not read, mined, sold, or used to train anything. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what is stored and where.

Google Calendar

Connecting Google Calendar is optional. If you connect it, you authorise Life OS to read your events and to create, change and delete events that you confirm on screen. Life OS does not write to your calendar in the background.

You can disconnect at any time from Settings → Integrations, or revoke access from your Google account. Disconnecting removes Life OS's copy of your Google events.

Fair use

Please do not:

Accounts doing any of the above may be suspended without notice.

Availability

Life OS is provided as is and as available. There is no service level agreement. It may be slow, briefly unavailable, or taken down for maintenance without warning. Features may change or be removed.

Life OS depends on Google and Railway; when they have problems, so does Life OS, and that is outside my control.

Backups

Reasonable care is taken with your data, but no guarantee is made against data loss, and a self-service export does not exist yet. If something in Life OS matters to you enormously, keep a copy of it somewhere else too. Ask and I will export your data by hand.

Ending it

You can stop using Life OS whenever you like. Email zander.vanderberg1@gmail.com to have your account and everything in it deleted.

Access may be ended if these terms are broken, or if Life OS is discontinued. If Life OS is ever shut down, reasonable notice will be given and a way to get your data out will be provided first.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Life OS is provided without warranty of any kind, and I am not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from using it — including lost data, lost time, or a missed appointment. Life OS is a tool for organising your own life, not a system of record you should rely on alone for anything critical.

Nothing here removes any right you have under South African consumer law that cannot be excluded by agreement.

Changes

These terms may change as Life OS grows. The date at the top will move and material changes will be mentioned in the app. Continuing to use Life OS after a change means accepting it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
